Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made changes as of August 2025 to make minimum pensions under EPS-95 7,500 a month as opposed to 7,000 previously. A sevenfold rise from the 1,000 pension improvements affects the lives of more than 78 lakh pensioners and is directed towards the increasing costs of living.
Dearness Allowance Inclusion
EPS-95 pensions are linked to inflation (i.e. now have Dearness Allowance-DA). DA increases semi-annually which might increase the pensions to approximately 10,650 at 42 percent DA rate which will keep the purchasing power of the retirees stable.
Aadhaar-Based UAN Activation
As of August 1, 2025, new Universal Account Numbers (UANs) will have to undergo a procedure of Aadhaar-based face authentication through the UMANG app. This increases security and minimizes errors in more than 7 crore members but staffing firms record such challenges.
Simplified Joint Declaration
It is now possible to make corrections in Aadhaar field in UAN from August 13, 2025. The online Google system will allow the employer to change the name, sex, or the date of birth online provided the UAN matches that of the Aadhaar. We require physical forms when employers are not available
Centralized Pension System
In October 2021, the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) is set to be implemented in January 2025 and manage pension payments across the country with the help of NPCI. Pentioners now have more flexibility, they are able to use any bank account which means that regional transfer delays are no more. New PPOs have to interconnect with UAN.
Death Claim Simplification
Since August 13, 2025, to settle death claims to the bank accounts of minors, guardianship certificates are not required. This would make payments faster and families do not have to wait to get financial help.
