A Report on Two day Day Online Faculty Development Programme On “Teaching Pedagogy and Research Skills” 21st March to 23rd March, 2022
St. Thomas College of Law, Greater Noida, organized two days online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 21 March to 23 March 2018. Based on the theme “Teaching Pedagogy and Research Skills”, the FDP became the scintillating platform of exchange of ideas and concerns among almost three generations of law academicians and practitioners.The Programme witnessed lectures by legal luminaries like Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute (A Deemed University) Delhi. Second day speakers were Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, (Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi), Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, NLU, Delhi, Dr. Ghulam Yazdani, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
The Programme audience was mostly comprised of faculty members and research scholars of various colleges and universities. All the lecture sessions were planned in a way to provide ample time for interaction between the audience and the resource persons. The Programme audience had used this opportunity to their utmost satisfaction and brought multiple perspectives to the forum through their questions and comments.
The programme was structured to provide insights to the audience on two important points. These are, first, to provide a theoretical perspectives or jurisprudential insightsof different subjects of law; second, to provide practical class-room teaching guidance and use of many important teaching tools.Dr. K.S. Bhati, St. Thomas College of Law, was the Programme Patron and Assistant Professors Md. Faheem Khan, and Adnan Irshad, was the Programme Coordinators and Co-Cordinator.
Ms. Simmi Pal, Dhananjay Mishra, and Dr. Niti Sinha also contributed on two days to the successful completion of the FDP. There were four sessions of 90 minutes each scheduled for all the two days of the FDP.
The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Simmi Pal, Assistant Professor, St. Thomas’ College. She introduced the participants with a brief description about our college. The Presidential address was delivered by Prof. Dr. K.S. Bhati, (Advisor,STCL), extended a warm welcome to the participants and the resource persons.
The First day Technical session was started on 21 March at 2:30 PM. Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, was invited as a resource person.
Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha delivered lecture on “Changing Pattern of Teaching, Learning and Research”. He shared his valuable insights on the topic and motivated the participants to adapt changing taking place in teaching, learning and research. He emphasized that teachers must includes current scenario in their teaching. He highlighted teachers must adhere evolving pattern of teaching. The session was ended at 4:15 PM. The concluding interactive session was conducted by the resource person with intense involvement of the participants. The session was concluded by the vote of thanks by Prof. M.K.Tayagi, (Dean, and STCL).
The second day technical session started on 23 March at 2:00 PM. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, (Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi), delivered lecture on “Changing Pattern of Teaching, Learning and Research” She
delivered an insightful lecture. Her lecture primarily dealt with the modern Environmental Law. She also stressed upon international Environmental Law. She discussed the niceties of the subject and provided practical guidance to the audience to improve their knowledge and teaching methods of the Environmental Law. She also took the queries of new teachers teaching Environmental Law and resolved their doubts.
Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, Professor, NLU, Delhi, delivered a lecture on the topic “Application - based teaching and research in Law.” She discussed both theoretical and practical aspects of the teaching and research and highlighted through illuminating example, the contemporary pressing need to give more attention to application based teaching and research in Law.
Dr.Ghulam Yazdani, Associate Prof. JMI, delivered a lecture on the topic “Effective teaching Methodologies of Personal Law” he highlighted teaching methodologies of personal law. he stressed upon to adopt right perspective in teaching personal law.
The concluding interactive session was conducted by the resource persons with intense involvement of the participants. The FDP was ended with concluding remark by Dr. K.S Bhati (Advisor, STCL). Vote of thanks was given by Md. Faheem Khan, Assistant Professor, STCL.
